Newcastle have released training images from Friday’s session as the lads prepare to take on Tottenham this Sunday. There is some promising news to emerge from the pictures as Joelinton was involved in the training session.

The Brazilian was forced off at halftime with a knee injury in Wednesday’s win against Everton. Eddie Howe admitted this morning the full extent of the problem was unknown. The fact he took training today is a positive development.

Javier Manquillo was also spotted in some of the photos. The right-back has been a no-show since the international break. Howe revealed he had been recovering from an ankle injury. The Spaniard has yet to make an appearance this term.

There were no conspicuous absences from the session. All of the players who have featured over the past few weeks were involved. Eddie Howe currently has 8 players on the mend with a couple of those back in training today.

To make up the numbers, Howe had a handful of the U21s training today. Midfielder Joe White continues to train with the first team while goalkeeper Jude Smith was also involved.

It’s great to see striker Isaac Westendorf back from his thigh injury. He was spotted in a couple of the images after making his season debut in the 2-0 EFL Trophy defeat at Lincoln City a few days ago.

In other news, Sven Botman is part of The Netherlands’ provisional squad for the upcoming World Cup. Botman has been sensational for Newcastle and has fully earned this opportunity. He has yet to make his full debut for his country.

How Will Newcastle Do At Tottenham On Sunday?

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match Against Everton?

True mark of a first champion.

Just make it look so easy ?

If you can manage a ten on the third Friday in October it gets you in the record books.

I’m surprised nobody else took it up.

This could be the best day of my life ?

Like all your Christmases coming at once.

Good to see big joe in the training pics! Hopefully he’ll be ok? We missed him when he came off on Wednesday imo

Almost ready for the icing on the cake.

Romford Mag, I think it was dark arts from Eddie H in case the ref was told he should have given a second yellow and was keen to put it right.

Probably, didn’t want him getting sent off and missing a match

Goal Linton: That was back in 55-57. I wish I had kept a copy of the 55 one when we won the FA Cup. Next thing I knew we were immigrating to Canada and never saw the paper again.

Romford Mag, Or missing a lot of the last one more importantly.

Think its telling that the back 6 (including Bruno who is generally sat in front) are made up of 5 new players. Pope, Tripps, Bots, Burn, Bruno. (Schar is new an all as Bruce never played him). Fair play to Eddie for recognising this needed some proper investment.

The front 5 are all Brucies squad. Just unrecognisable.

My point is Eddie is class and the next step change to the team will be a top class midfielder and winger. Maddison would be spot on in Jan

I wonder what would have happened if Bruce had of inherited Mclarens defence instead of Rafa’s, I wonder how long he would have lasted

Pleased botman is in the provisional Dutch World Cup squad, a stage in which to show the world he is a top player. Van dijk and de ligt will likely be first choice, but sven can push them to get in imo.

Hopefully joelinton plays on Sunday, his presence in midfield makes us more solid compared with when he isn’t playing.

investinyouthtoon, Looks like his gamble to stay with Eddie H and cement his place in our team to further his chances for Qatar has paid off handsomely.

Were a decent side, with players who are comfortable on the ball, but the big reason we are now top third is effort and self belief. We really are at it in games, and that’s down to the preparation and the character of the group. Hats off to the whole organisation. We’ll go to Spurs believing we can win, and commited to earn it as a team and as a club, and to be honest, it probably is the only way you can go to Spurs, and come away with points.

1950s was our decade of glory.

Yes the 1955 one would have been a great souvenir.

I bet you never thought we would never win a domestic trophy again after those 3 quick success.

Yeah, Joel and Bruno are critical to us. Not sure if we can match them without Joel, although Longstaff’s recent form leaves less of a hole should Joel miss out. We really want our best players available. We go into games, no matter the opposition, with Shelvey, Isak and St Max all either starting or pushing for starts, along with the players now currently figuring, and you start licking your lips.

I have a copy of the very last “Pink” without going to look at it I think we won at West Ham United 4 – 3 I also seem recall a certain Mr Owen scoring a hat trick but…… I’m an old codger so my memory could be playing tricks with me!

Invest Yes good to see Even getting recognition despite missing the u21s

Spot on about Big Joe – wasn’t until he was missing how you realise what an impact he makes in midfield.

Sadly I didn’t start watching NUFC until 1956 so I missed all that glory!

But thankfully I watched al but one of the home Fairs Cup games!

A brilliant time for all Toon fans & hopefully some more glory is just around the corner eh!

Haha brilliant mate, yes a Owen hatrick in a 4-2 away win in 2005.

That will be a collector’s item.

We’d be in the Beezer Homes Div 6 North by now.

I’ve become a big Shelvey fan. Always been a genuine talent, but over the last few seasons, you can palpably see a different level of commitment, matyrity and professionalism, to his career, team and club, and no doubt family. Not sure he starts ahead of Longstaff or Willock anymore, who are more dynamic, and who have come on, but delighted he’s back in contention.

I have heard all those stories about the fairs cup win from my uncle, including the 0-0 at Glasgow when their bus windows were put out and they had to drive home freezing cold. Great memories for yourself and I’m so glad for loyal and dedicated fans like you that we should have more moments of success that support like yours deserves.

As much as I’m looking forward to seeing a front 3 of Allan, Wilson and Isak. I’m really looking forward to seeing a midfield 3 of Joelinton, Bruno and Shelvey. Hopefully these injuries go elsewhere and we can see a fully fit team for many games this season:

Pope. Trippier. Botman. Schar. Burn/Targett. Joelinton. Bruno. Shelvey. Allan. Wilson. Isak.

Dont think Shelvey will replace Willock, who is Eddie’s first choice i think. Just been a bit poorly last week or so and Sean has done well.

Bringing Shelvey and Sean on at 60 minutes will give the team a canny boost. Plus it will allow other midfielders to run there legs of for an hour.

Obviously Miggy and Willocock would be unlucky to miss out.

And would ASM and Isak be able to do the high pressing that makes our offence the first line of defence which I think has contributed to our good record.

Good point Goal. I’d just love to see our best 11 players (imo) all on the pitch together this season. We’d need some Lady Luck on our side, as soon as one player returns another ones gets injured.

Yeah I think that what everyone wants a chance to see our strongest team and it will indeed be fascinating to see your front 3 at once.

A point is though Howe is getting a tune incredibly out of every player single player so it may be hard to decide our strongest 11

Goal Linton. Aged ten, my dad took me to the FA cup final in 1952. He was a lifetime Arsenal supporter, so I went for Newcastle. We won it, and a fan was born. Three years later, we did it again, and was I chuffed that I’d chosen a successful team to support. To date, the rest, sadly, is history.

Is there any other player Howe hasn’t improved apart from Wilson.

Howe has succeeded all expectations.

Saving us from relegation would have been enough but he is going above and beyond.

Amazing story, I love stories like those.

Robledo in the 84th minute in front of 100k fans.

What a lucky guy to see those two success and see the mighty Jackie Millburn play.

John J, Hope your well, regarding the Pink, loved it, it used to have a full page on the 1st half, then right at the end, a small paragraph stating we have won 2-1 etc……, also a daft snippet, I worked for British Gas for 38 years, and I was clearing out an old Gas depot, and there was a case ball with the Pink printed all over it, must have been about over 25 years old…… it now sits neatly in my garage fully blown up and a great reminder of the ‘Good old days’, you know what I means John J……..lol, sorry t9 bore you younger Mags, 1-1 on Sunday, Cheers GWH

Jackie Millburn three FA Cup goals and three winners medals. Bobby Mitchell and Bobby Cowell also three winners medals with Joe Harvey two and one as coach.

I have continued over the last two years to have quarterly checkups on my stage 4 prostate cancer. The treatment (hormone injections every 3 months plus Xtandi medication daily) has managed to slow the spread of the cancer.

I am just so pleased that we have now been taken over by rich and ambitious owners and Eddie Howe is now the head coach.

It is as it is.

My cancer was first diagnosed in April, 2011 and it became stage four in late December, 2016

That's when it spread through the bones to several areas of the body.

My treatment has also included radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

I remain in awe of the kind and effective treatment I have received from the Doctors and Nurses.

While stage four prostate cancer is terminal, I hope to be around for a while yet.

Let's also hope Newcastle can shock everybody this coming season with maybe even a top six finish!

It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.
